LED downlight installation in Lees for kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms and hallways. We plan the spacing, fit fire-rated downlights where the ceiling needs them and choose the right colour of light.

Downlights spaced too far apart leave dark patches, and too close together makes a ceiling look busy. The spacing depends on the room size, the ceiling height and the beam angle of the light. We plan the layout before cutting any holes.
Cutting a hole in a plasterboard ceiling can weaken its fire resistance. Where the ceiling separates floors, such as under a bedroom, or forms a fire barrier, we fit fire-rated downlights. These are designed to seal the hole if there's a fire.
LED downlights come in different colour temperatures. Warm white, around 2700K to 3000K, feels cosy in living rooms and bedrooms. Cooler white, around 4000K, suits kitchens and bathrooms where you want clear light. Some downlights let you switch between the two.
We start by looking at the room, the ceiling and what's above it, such as joists, pipes or loft insulation. We agree the number of downlights, their positions and the colour of light, and check the lighting circuit. You then get a free quote.
On the day, we mark out the positions, cut the holes and run the cables between the lights. Each downlight is connected and fitted, with fire-rated fittings where needed and enough clearance from insulation. We test the circuit, tidy up and give you a certificate.

We finish the work, test it and leave you with the right certificate for the job.
It depends on the size of the room, the ceiling height and the beam angle of the downlights. As a rough guide, many kitchens need a downlight for every square metre or so, but we plan the layout for your room so the light is even, with extra over worktops.
You need them where the ceiling has to stop fire spreading, such as between floors in a house or in a ceiling below a flat. A single-storey room with a loft above may not need them. We check your ceiling and fit fire-rated downlights wherever they're required.
Yes, but they need the right IP rating for their zone, so moisture can't get in. Downlights directly over a bath or shower need a higher rating than those elsewhere in the room. We choose suitable fittings and protect the circuit with an RCD.
There's some dust from cutting the holes, but we keep it to a minimum and clean up afterwards. The holes are cut to the exact size of the fitting, so there's no making good around them. If cables need to cross joists, we may need access from the loft or floor above.
